A member of Teddy Roosevelt’s Roughriders returns to Diablo to take the valuable land he had been promised. When he arrives, he discovers that the land is part of an Indian reservation. Things quickly turn from bad to worse when a corrupt land agent frames the man for murdering a brave with the hope of inciting an Indian war, which he will use for his own desires for the valuable land.

Diablo is in danger when a gang of hired killers comes to town. Lofty finds himself conflicted as he is reluctant to take on the gang once he discovers the leader rescued him back in their days in the U.S. Cavalry. With the state senator possibly the target of the gang, the townspeople call for Lofty to resign amid his reluctance.

Dave Morgan, an honest lawyer, faces off with Carter Holmes, a crooked politician, in a fiery election campaign. Things take a turn for the worse when Holmes attempts to have his opponent killed.
