Superior Donuts

Emmy Award winner Judd Hirsch and comedian Jermaine Fowler star in a new comedy about the relationship between Arthur, the gruff owner of a small donut shop, his enterprising new young employee, Franco, and their loyal patrons in a quickly gentrifying Chicago neighborhood.

When Franco's creative new donut flavors become bestsellers, Arthur tries to prove he's still relevant by coming up with a unique one of his own. Also, Fawz works to dream up an inventive password in order to keep Maya and James from stealing his store's WiFi.

Franco encourages Arthur to increase his security when Fawz's dry-cleaning store is robbed, but becomes concerned when Arthur buys a gun. Also, Tush offers Maya his personal approach to protecting herself.

When Arthur is reluctant to let Franco make the shop's bank deposit, Franco accuses his boss of not trusting him. Also, James regrets confiding in Randy after she shares an embarrassing secret about him with other cops at the station.

When Franco and Sweatpants discover their new landlord, Fawz, wants to convert their apartment building into luxury condos, they decide to organize a protest. Also, Randy realizes she needs to be nicer to James in order to get a good recommendation for her sergeant's exam.

When Arthur grudgingly takes a vacation day, Randy and Fawz try to show him there's more to life than work. Also, Franco sets out to prove he has what it takes to run the donut shop in Arthur's absence.

When Franco is subjected to a stop-and-frisk for no reason, Randy invites her fellow cops to a community outreach meeting to discuss profiling. Also, Arthur must consider his own unconscious bias when a piece of his sports memorabilia goes missing, and he suspects Franco's friend stole it.

The group decides to take up a collection to pay for Franco's medical expenses when he's hurt at work and doesn't have insurance. Also, Tush experiences unusual side effects when he participates in an experimental drug trial.

Randy's mom comes to town, Franco encourages Arthur to go out on his first date in years. Brenda Vaccaro guest stars as Helen.

Arthur encourages Franco to pursue his art but is caught off guard when Franco paints a mural on the side of the donut shop that sparks controversy in the neighborhood. Also, Fawz decides to run for president of the Uptown Business Council.

Franco takes a second job as Fawz's assistant to make extra money. Also, Randy and James compete against each other to see who can win a coveted cash prize at work.

Franco is shocked when his estranged father, Reggie (guest star Cedric the Entertainer), suddenly shows up at the donut shop for his son's first art show.

When Maya momentarily leaves her open laptop unattended, the gang discovers she's been studying them all year for her dissertation. Also, Franco and Randy become determined to learn the truth about where a tight-lipped Arthur really spends each Sunday.
