Two scientists find a new way to harvest the power of "dark energy" using a tool called the "Proteus Accelerator." In theory, it will drill a hole in the universe, tap a pool of the mysterious matter and serve to power our world forever. But when an experiment destroys a city, only a select few can convince the Proteus team that their efforts are actually threatening the planet.
When two scientists attempt to discover unlimited energy, their experiment is hijacked and sabotaged by eco-terrorists. The result is a black hole that could destroy the planet.
