In the fifth season premiere, after Derwin's accusations of abortion, Melanie reveals a dark secret from her past; Malik and Tasha take care of a relapsed Jenna and Jason meets a feisty new bartender.

In the second half of the fifth season opener, Tasha corners Malik about his relationship with Jenna while a wild night with a bartender comes back to haunt Jason.

Melanie feels like something is missing in her life after Derwin goes back to Irv as his manager. Tasha brings a lawsuit against Derwin for money she feels like she deserves. Malik runs into money trouble which leads to a reevaluation of his life.

Melanie and Tasha fight at a fashion show; Jason starts to acknowledge everyday racism after a dinner with Chardonnay and her friends and Derwin tries to befriend Kwan.

Chardonnay isn't interested when Jason suggests they start dating after their annulment; Melanie and Derwin continue trying for a baby.

Melanie and Tasha face each other at Drop Bar; Financial troubles take a toll on Malik when he has to sell his mansion.

When a YouTube video of Malik and Derwin doing football tricks goes viral, the guys ride the wave hoping it takes Malik off the bench and back onto the field. Meanwhile, Melanie realizes that she misses Tasha in her life but Tasha wants nothing to do with her.

Melanie attempts to create a friendship with Janay. Tasha starts a new relationship, unaware of her new man's occupation.

Jealousy rises to the surface when Derwin finds out about Janay's engagement; Melanie and Janay have a misunderstanding.

Melanie's fashion show takes a turn for the worst when she gets locked inside a bathroom... with Tasha. Malik has trouble getting aroused during a threesome which leads to the realization that he needs closure.

Derwin and Melanie try to keep themselves preoccupied when they receive troubling news at the fertility clinic; Chardonnay looks to Tasha for relationship advice.

While Derwin's poker night turns into a raging bash, Melanie asks Tasha to be her surrogate.

Tasha deals with being Melanie's surrogate while Jason helps Chardonnay financially when she's spotted waiting at a bus stop.

Malik struggles with ghosts from his past; Melanie does some thought provoking soul searching.

While Melanie is away interviewing for a residency position at Johns Hopkins in D.C., Derwin does everything he can to avoid returning to an empty home. Meanwhile, Tasha renews her commitment to celibacy by joining the "cupcake club" in an attempt to break her pattern and avoid ruining her new relationship with Pookie.

Tasha reads a text message on Pookie's phone and finds out he's been living with another woman. Meanwhile, due to the urging of Melanie, Derwin pushes Irv to explore a new contract offer in D.C., which results in Derwin receiving an even bigger counter offer from the Sabers.

Melanie and Derwin butt heads during the Sabres championship game week while Malik gets in a heated dispute when picking Jenna up from rehab. Also, Jason makes a decision about Chardonnay and his relationship with her; Pookie offers Tasha help.

In the season finale, Derwin and Melanie finally come to a resolution of the problems in their relationship; Malik faces the harsh reality of his relationship with Jenna; Chardonnay fights for Jason.
