Victor, having been badly advised by his neighbor the banker Durand-Mareuil, has lost everything on the stock market. His family decides to try to get back the lost money. To do this, a tunnel is dug right up to the bank's safe. A series of events imply their son-in-law's involvement in the break-in, since he works at the bank. However, the plan fails.
