Through the dazzling diversity of fish life revealed by our Bishop Museum deep divers, we will tell the story of how this region became so rich through volcanic activity, shifting tectonic plates, and changing sea levels.

The Coral Triangle is the major junction of three great oceans; a veritable highway for great ocean travellers, such as the leatherback turtle, whale sharks, and blue whales. Through the tracking and study of migrating marine mammals by Dr Benjamin Kahn, we follow the movements of these great whales to understand what draws them to this region, and why it is a critical path in their journey.

Dr Lawrence Blair, author and anthropologist, revisits the subjects of his definitive book on the region, The Ring of Fire. Together with underwater pioneer Valerie Taylor, we understand this regionʼs people and their relationship with the marine richness that surrounds them.
