Two's Company

Dorothy returns to London after a three week holiday in Scotland, to find an invitation waiting for her - lunch that day with the Queen at Buckingham Palace! Dorothy is thrown into a frenzy of excitement and panic but time is running out.

Dorothy has bought a freezer, despite Robert's fierce objection to frozen foods, and delivery takes place on the day is holding a buffet lunch party.

Dorothy discovers a dog for sale and offers to take it home with her. Robert, at first reluctant, warms to the idea after a pay rise.

A self-employed chauffeur, Vincent, comes to take Dorothy each day to the film studios where a film is being made of one of her books.

Dorothy is suffering from a viral infection and feeling very unwell. Robert decides that he cannot look after her on his own and telephones for a home help, Mrs Tomkins.

Dorothy is deeply offended when an anonymous critic writes a scathing review of her thrillers in a national newspaper. The newspaper's editor will not disclose the name of the critic, but Dorothy discovers from a friend that it was Robert.

Robert has organised a picnic as a special treat for Dorothy's birthday. He has packed sumptuous food and wine in a hired car and plans to take her on a trip to Sussex.

Dorothy has invited two MPs to her house to seek their advice on a charitable scheme she hopes to launch. Robert is horrified when he hears that one of the MPs is a socialist.
