Liz Todd, a doctor from Newcastle met dashing barrister Chris Smith on dating website Plenty of fish. After a whirlwind romance they move in together renting a sumptuous apartment in the grounds of Sandhoe Hall. And so begins a lengthy and elaborate scam that sees Liz's life left in tatters.

Megan Adie was 15 in 2013 when she met Chris Wilson who told her he was 17 and lived in a flat the other side of town. She lost her virginity to him and they had frequent sex but always in the dark, and Megan unable to touch him. It wasn't until Megan collapsed and was taken to hospital that she realised she had been duped; Chris Wilson was in fact Christine and a 26 year old woman.
