999: On the Front Line

Paramedics respond to reports of a patient in cardiac arrest. When they arrive, there's no answer at the door. Concerned that an elderly relative is attempting CPR inside, they break down two sets of doors to gain entry. Inside they discover an exhausted wife who, despite her own physical problems, has been trying to save her husband's life.

A man has been stabbed in the leg and the head. When paramedics arrive, he's overdosed on heroin. Despite his injuries, when he regains consciousness, his only thought is to shoot up again. Neighbours ring 999 when they find a man collapsed unconscious in his driveway.

Paramedics are called to reports of a man collapsed in the street and in cardiac arrest. When they arrive, he's surrounded by police officers who've been carrying out CPR. A woman in severe abdominal pain suffers a panic attack as the paramedics try to get her breathing under control.

A man high on drugs is found by police sitting in a doorway with a badly broken arm. The paramedics treat his injuries but can't get to the bottom of what happened. A first day at work ends badly for a doorman at a nightclub. As he checks a customer, he moves awkwardly dislocating his knee and is in agony.

A woman is in excruciating pain after giving birth by caesarean section just over a week ago. Even the painkiller morphine is having little effect. A man who fell the previous day has pain in his side and difficulty breathing. A patient who's been shaking uncontrollably with a high temperature needs to go to hospital.

On the night shift paramedics are called to a man who is sitting on the pavement and refusing to move. He's being aggressive and the police are on scene. There are concerns that he may have had a stroke. A car swerves to avoid a cow in the middle of the road and ends up being accidentally being hit from behind by another car. There are reports of a casualty with chest pains.

While wheeling a push bike home, a man falls and is in agony. The paramedics are concerned he's broken his hip. A woman has fallen, is confused and can't get up. She hit her head on a radiator and now has a deep cut to the back of her head. A daughter discovers her mum has died suddenly at home and calls for help.

Paramedics are called to a man complaining of chest pains. He's in so much discomfort he can hardly talk. A woman with liver disease has fallen over and ripped her ear. With low blood pressure and high blood sugar levels, she needs to go to hospital. Just going to the loo leaves a patient in agony.

When blood sugar levels are outside a normal range, the consequences can be life threatening. On the night shift paramedics find a woman collapsed on the floor and on the verge of a diabetic coma. With no access to her veins and time running out, they resort to drastic measures. A young woman is in agony with severe stomach cramps.

A man is stabbed, and a major incident is declared. The paramedics are met by a patient who's been stabbed in the chest and slashed across the head. He's bleeding heavily from a head wound and needs to be treated in hospital quickly. A young man who has curvature of the spine is running a high temperature with low blood pressure and a fast heart rate.
