In 1982, vocalese maestro Jon Hendricks brought his wife Judith Hendricks, daughter Michelle Hendricks, mouth trumpeter Bob Gurland, pianist Michael Weiss, bassist Murray Wall and drummer Marvin Smith to perform at the North Sea Jazz Festival in The Hague.
