Mild-mannered Chicago police officer Wayne "Mad Dog" Dobie saves the life of Frank Milo, a crime boss and aspiring stand-up comedian. To thank him, Frank offers Wayne the company of Glory, a bartender indebted to him. Though uneasy, Wayne and Glory grow closer and fall in love. As the week ends, their lives become complicated when Milo demands Glory back.
