The Kelly Nolan trial continues, but Alan, Denny and Brad fear the worst when Kelly's cold demeanor begins to turn off the jury.

When Tara dumps Shore, Crane decides to take him fishing as a distraction; Sara and Garrett blackmail opposing counsel in a senior associate’s divorce case; and Catherine confesses that she killed her friend Bernard Ferrion so he wouldn’t kill again.

Denny's conservative values are put to the test when the firm represents a Democratic congressman. Alan tries to forget about Tara as he prepares to defend Catherine who is on trial for murder.

The firm takes on two milestone cases. First, Shirley and Denise represent Christian and Wiccan parents who are outraged by a public school's Halloween celebrations, but the case takes a turn for the worse when the clients begin arguing amongst themselves

Denny is called to defend a man who raped and killed a 13-year-old girl. Meanwhile, Alan must face his fear of clowns.

Schmidt defends a teen accused of running over an elderly man; Denise represents a plastic surgeon accused of injecting his own fat into patients; and Shore experiences dangerous night terrors.

When the FBI's hands are tied with red tape, Brad helps Denise go undercover as a rogue agent in order to find a missing boy who is close to her heart. But when legal and ethical roadblocks appear, they must make some difficult decisions.

Brad goes to trial on charges of assaulting and falsely imprisoning a priest, but argues that he was forced to take drastic measures in order to force the priest to reveal information about a kidnapped child; and Shore helps Melissa deal with her debt.

Paul recruits Denise to help him defend a cancer patient who used his wealth to guarantee he would not get a placebo during a drug study.

Shore defends a former lawyer from the firm who held a knife to Schmidt’s throat when he didn’t make partner; Denise continues her romance with a man dying of cancer; and the prospect of Crane marrying for the fifth time worries his partners.

Shore and Denise represent a girl whose father killed her mother after learning the mother’s whereabouts on an insurance company website; Catherine robs a convenience store; and Brad tries to bribe Bev to leave Denny Crane.

Shore represents a woman charged with a felony for participating in a political protest while topless; the man Denise is dating copes with his terminal cancer by joking about it; and Catherine takes over Garrett’s office.

Brad tries to help Crane’s fiancée, Bev, keep her cat on life support… against the wishes of her ex-husband; Schmidt and Denise represent a woman impregnated by her rapist; and Shore tries to get a little girl who can’t smile admitted to a private school.

Shore and Crane defend a man charged with assisting his wife’s suicide; Lewiston tries to reconnect with his estranged daughter; and Schmidt’s rakish ex-husband materializes to ask Schmidt to be part of his upcoming wedding.

Crane cheats on his wife, Bev, at their wedding reception, and her divorce claim against him threatens to destroy the firm; and Shore defends a woman fired for smoking.

Shirley covertly asks Alan for help. Paul sends Brad in undercover when he suspects his daughter is once again using drugs, and Denny is inspired by a case involving self-defense electrocution.

Shore defends Melissa, who is arrested for failing to pay her income taxes; after a bad date Denise is pulled over by a cop, and spends the night with him; and Lewiston forces his drug-abusing daughter into rehab.

Shirley defends a long-time client who doesn't want his Victorian erotica collection lost in his divorce, but she is shocked when Ivan is opposing council.

After beginning to speak gibberish in court, Alan turns to Denny for help in curing his new, debilitating condition.

Alan helps Jerry defend his first attempted-murder case with disastrous results; and Ivan works his way back into Shirley’s bed, until she discovers that he’s never told Missy their marriage is over.

When Denny shoots his therapist in self-defense, the senior partners, fed up with his rogue behavior, begin to enact plans to remove him from the firm.

Name partner Edwin Poole returns from a mental institution to Crane, Poole and Schmidt, ready to jump back in, but Shirley has reservations when he decides to sue a candy company.
