Toula Portokalos (Nia Vardalos) is an unmarried thirty-year-old who works in her father's Greek restaurant. She meets and falls for high school teacher Ian Miller (John Corbett) but Toula's parents, Gus and Maria, are shocked to discover that Ian isn't Greek and begin putting obstacles in the couple's path.
