Cheng Yao, aspiring lawyer, secures a position at Junheng, a leading family law firm. Opting to live nearby, she faces an unexpected twist when her landlord double rents. Agreeing to share with another tenant at 80% of the rent, Cheng Yao is unaware that this seemingly harmless "housemate" is none other than Qian Heng, the boss at Junheng.

During Cheng Yao's first team meeting, she received a sharp reprimand from Qian Heng for her lack of proficiency in basic legal knowledge. It became evident that Qian Heng's harsh attitude was not just about pushing her out of the shared living space but also aiming to force her out of the law firm entirely.

Late at night, Cheng Yao finds herself humming a song and cooking at her workstation. Consequently, Qian Heng ends up falling asleep on the office sofa. The next day, this unusual incident caught the attention of colleagues at the law firm. Despite its absurdity, Qian Heng has to face the reality that whenever Cheng Yao is around, he can easily doze off.

Cheng Yao wakes up in a panic, but Qian Heng finds a pretext to have her move into the shared rental house. He uses a substantial compensation bill to coerce Cheng Yao into relocating and taking on the landlord's duties, including solving all of her life problems. Cheng Yao deeply regrets her intoxicated mistake but reluctantly agrees to his request, moving back to the shared rental house.

Cheng Yao doesn't take Qian Heng's words to heart and devotes herself to assisting Bai Xing Meng in finding evidence. However, Xu Jun had numerous companies, making the investigation challenging without complete information. Qian Heng, engrossed in the case all day, neglects to eat. He finally sleeps at midnight, only to be awakened by a stomachache.

Upon learning about Cheng Yao and Cheng Xi's amusement park plans, Wu Jun reveals that the president of the Law Association instructs Qian Heng to accompany Cheng Yao to the event and emphasizes not to be absent for this year's Golden Scale Award. With excitement, Wu Jun heads to the amusement park, eagerly anticipating an "accidental encounter" with Cheng Xi.

Bai Xing Meng privately approaches Cheng Yao, tearfully expressing concerns about being followed and threatened by Xu Jun. She pleads with Cheng Yao to reject Xu Jun on her behalf. Unable to ignore Bai Xing Meng's distress, Cheng Yao decides to support her and turn down Xu Jun's settlement request as per her plea.

Concerned about the recent incident, Qian Heng keeps a close eye on Cheng Yao, fearing its impact on her. Sleep eludes him when he hears cries emanating from her room. Little did he know, Cheng Yao spends the night watching romantic movies in her room, and despite the tears, she emerges the next day brimming with energy.

Since her divorce, Cheng Xi has been actively involved in charitable work. However, Deng Ming has persistently bothered her. He uses his sick mother's birthday as an excuse, hoping that Cheng Xi would visit her at the hospital. It is only during this visit that Cheng Xi discovers Deng Ming has not informed his mother about the divorce. Meanwhile, Wu Jun has been pursuing Cheng Xi closely.

Wu Jun, under the guise of being a public interest lawyer, requests to become Cheng Xi's assistant. Qian Heng states that there is no need to continue investigating Dong Shan's case, and Cheng Yao learns about Dong Shan's unexpected death in a car accident. The two attend Dong Shan's memorial service, where his wife, Jiang Wen Xiu, is overcome with grief.

Cheng Yao shares his recent situation with her boss to Li Meng Ting. Li Meng Ting is sure that Qian Heng has feelings for Cheng Yao. To show her gratitude, she introduces the foot bath to Qian Heng. Qian Heng doesn't understand why Cheng Yao can always feel happy and excited about small things. She can feel happy about anything. They are moments that Qian Heng will not care about in his life.

Cheng Yao proposes to have a kinship test with Grandpa Dong and gains Qian Heng's approval. Cheng Yao convinces the traditional and male-preference-minded Grandpa Dong to undergo the kindship test but encounters difficulties and harsh words from the residents of the nursing home during the process. Deng Ming learns that Cheng Xi and Wu Jun have become close.
