Our Friends in the North

1964: While Nicky decides he wants to change the world and Geordie heads for London, Mary and Tosker make a life changing mistake.

1966: While Harold Wilson and The Beatles rule England, everything has changed for the four from Newcastle.

1967: Geordie flirts with danger in his affair with Barratt's mistress. Mary and Tosker's flat and marriage are both falling apart.

1970: Geordie works in Barratt's porn empire, Nicky is a politcal activist - the reunion is disaster. Both wanted by the police. Tosker is a businessman, Mary a local politician.

1974: The world has turned sour for the four friends. Geordie is in jail, while Tosker works in a sausage factory. Tosker and Mary's marriage is a sham.

1979: As a new decade approaches, the friends are divided again. Nicky stands for Parliament, Tosker falls in love with the woman of his dreams and Geordie begins to deal in drugs.

1984: The miners' strike dominates both the country and the lives of the four friends.

1987: On the night of the 1987 hurricane Nicky leaves Mary; Tosker and Elaine, broken by the Stockmarket crash find comfort in each other and Eddie Wells dies of a heart attack.

1995: Florrie has died, Nicky has come back to his roots and Mary; Geordie has become an alcoholic and Tosker realises his dream of a floating nightclub.
