Explosion: The War of 1812

The day was April 27, 1813. The War of 1812 between America and England raged in the shadow of the Napoleonic Wars in Europe. American forces defeated the British in the Battle of York in present-day Toronto. It was to be a launching point for an offensive against the British navy. Then, a powerful explosion changed the course of the war. Archeological evidence sheds a new light on these events.
