Lola and Lotta are best friends. They do everything together. Then a new girl arrives at school and Lotta seems rather taken with her. Lola starts to feel left out. Inconsolable that Lotta may not like her anymore Charlie and Marv come to the rescue, and Lola realises that of course Lotta is still definitely her best friend.

Marv and Charlie are off to the insect house and Marv's little brother Morten is coming round to play with Lola. Lola is very excited and is sure that Morten will be her new friend who lives down the stairs. However, Morten is very shy indeed and Lola has to draw on all her resources to get him to play with her at all. Will Morten smile if Lola tries hard enough? Who wouldn't!

Lola is in a superstitious mood. There are so many unlucky things you can do. Charlie plays along with this but Lola's imagination gets carried away. If you step on the cracks, do bears really jump out at you? Or is it crocodiles? Or maybe lions? How can Charlie persuade Lola that some of these things are simply not true?
