The series provides many practical maps and travel tips, along with scenic videos of major destinations and out-of-the-way discoveries.

Lucerne is one of the world's great towns, set on a picturesque lake surrounded by majestic mountains. Lucerne truly has it all, famous for a well-preserved Old Town pedestrian zone consisting of many blocks of historic buildings, richly decorated with painted murals, along the shores of Lake Lucerne and the River Reuss.

In this episode we are going to show you more of Lucerne's Old Town, the morning markets, and the new town. There are so many interesting things to see in Lucerne that we have made four movies about this area. Two movies in the town itself and a couple of movies showing the surroundings, take you on some boat rides, up to some mountaintops and up Mount Titlis.

We're taking you up to Mount Titlis, one of the most scenic destinations in Switzerland, high in the Alps, an easy day-trip from Lucerne. We will be showing you many different views and angles of this glacier-topped mountain during the program photographed at different times of year in different viewing conditions. The mountains we're looking at are mostly 12,000 feet high, giants of the Alps.

You can take boat rides to connect with some of the nearby excursions to the mountaintops around Lucerne, and in this program we're taking you up three mountains: to the top of Mount Rigi, to Bürgenstock by funicular and Mount Pilatus by rack rail. You'll find these excursions, linked together with the scenic boat rides, provide some of the most rewarding experiences in your visit to Lucerne.

The train journey to the top of the Jungfrau mountain is one of the most scenic rail lines in the world, reaching the second-highest observation deck in the Swiss Alps with splendid views of glaciers and mountain peaks all around. We also visit Grindelwald's glacier gulch and take a walk to the village of Wengen, enjoying superb views into Lauterbrunnen Valley way down below.

It's another big day in the Swiss Alps, traveling to the back of Lauterbrunnen Valley and taking Europe's longest cable car ride up to the Schilthorn Mountain.

Interlaken in the heart of the Alps and Bern are two wonderful destinations of Switzerland, and historic Thun makes a nice bonus. The advantages of Interlaken are the many hotels, restaurants and shops, and wonderful train and bus connections to get up to some of the world's most spectacular mountain scenery. Everything is very compact in Bern's old town which you can easily see in a few hours.
