Eat Well For Less New Zealand

The Silich's are a young family of five from Tauranga on a very tight budget. They have learned to shop around and purchase their groceries from multiple supermarkets and a community initiative, helping to keep their spending down every week. But, the downside of having a tight budget is that they aren't buying enough food to fill the adults up.

The Gee-Wanhill's are a multi-generational family from beautiful Taupō. This busy household is full of fussy eaters and they are spending a fortune on food every week, due to lack of communication and being beholden to everyone's culinary whims. Mum runs a gym out of their basement, home-schools the kids and works at a restaurant in the evenings and together with fire mechanic dad.

The Rakoia family consist of a loving solo Dad Brad and and his two young daughters. He has an amazing vegetable garden and fruit trees galore in the backyard and a natural talent for flavour, food and gardening and is hoping to start his own food business one day, but he's struggling with his girls' after school eating habits.

Auckland family, the Zhu-Shao's have fallen into the trap of being easily influenced by social media trends, what other people think and believing expensive products and organic branding translates to healthy food choices. The result: a fortune is spent on well-marketed brands that have no greater nutritional benefit than their cheaper counterparts.

In one of Mike and Ganesh's toughest Eat Well challenges yet, we meet Tauranga family of six, the Libeccio's. This big family have zero kitchen confidence and a lack of general food knowledge - from cooking food to storing food, from fear of basic flavours to limited recipes, the Libeccio's have a lot to learn and a lot to overcome in the kitchen.

Outside of Auckland, in Waiuku, we meet two brothers with raging sugar addictions, calling the shots on all the food decisions, leaving mum exhausted from constantly negotiating. Brazilian Kiwi mum Josie is a busy teacher, who feels like she has lost control of the two boys who gang up on her to get their way.
