In the early 1960s communism threatens Asia so Australia sends an elite unit of soldiers to train the South Vietnamese army to fight the communists The Australian Army Training Team Vietnam – aka the Team – would eventually fight sidebyside with the Vietnamese and find itself involved in violent CIAled campaigns to defeat the Viet Cong

From 1965 onward the Vietnam War becomes increasingly vicious and the Australian Army Training Team aka the Team finds itself at the heart of the most intense fighting as the communists Tet Offensive explodes across Vietnam Team veterans and their South Vietnamese colleagues describe their parts in this crucial period of the Vietnam War

Australia and the US are pulling out of the Vietnam War and the Australian Training Team must leave behind the Vietnamese with whom theyve fought for almost ten years But the Teams bond with the Vietnamese remains unbroken as they help refugees to settle in Australia and in the process help to transform the country of Australia into a modern multicultural society
