Road Number One

An injured Jang Woo lays on the battlefield and thinks back to his life with Soo Yeon. Tae Ho comes into a clinic for medicine and meets his future fiancé.

Soo Yeon wants to stay with family as the war moves closer to her village. Jang Woo’s father is injured and he makes the decision to leave his father in Soo Yeon’s care.

A trap is set for North Korean tanks but the soldiers must use a different strategy to stay alive. The army tries to force men into joining the fight but Jang Woo does not follow orders.

Tae Ho thinks back to a time with Soo Yeon as Jang Woo trains to be a platoon leader. Jang Woo goes to find Soo Yeon but he also runs into her sister Su Hee.

Soo Yeon lies to Jang Woo about a meeting before leaving with her brother. Tae Ho arrests Jang Woo for desertion and they both begin a search for Soo Yeon.

The commander refuses to help Tae Ho after losing communication with Jang Woo and the special mission unit. Soo Yeon travels with her brother to Pyeongyang as concern grows for his health.

The captain is shot while crossing a river but Tae Ho is relieved to see the bullet removed by a medic. Soo Yeon is taken prisoner and beaten as she tries to take care of soldiers.

The captain is shot during a battle and the platoon must continue fighting. Soldiers return to find Tae Ho is now captain of their unit and Jang Woo is their platoon leader.

Jang Woo must take on the unpleasant job of checking a casualty list for errors. Su Hee offers American rations to Tae Ho before he must return to the front.

Tae Ho tells Jang Woo that he is the only person capable of being the company's commander. Jang Woo wants to create drawings as Tae Ho is forced to make decision.

Soo Yeon and her brother have an argument about the quality of his life. Later, Soo Yeon runs away from a medical site but Tae Ho does not see her.

Soo Yeon’s brother attacks Jang Woo and tells him not to search for his sister. Tae Ho is upset to learn that Soo Yeon was pregnant with Jang Woo’s baby.

Soo Yeon thinks back to happier times with Jang Woo as they reconnect. Su Hee goes to a club but she sees her brother is intent on destroying the venue.

Tae Ho testifies for Soo Yeon but he says she is responsible for interfering with the army. The second company is forced to flee from enemy troops as they appear to be trapped.

The 2nd company plans to make its stand in Pyongyang as the fighting continues. Jang Woo is asked to lead the men to safety as conditions become harsh and starvation sets in.

Allies find the company after their isolation but they have nothing to offer. The Chinese army surrounds both groups and they must work together in order to survive the conflict.

The 2nd Company makes it back to Road Number One and wait to be rescued. Tae Ho is worried about Jang Woo’s mental state after they reach a field hospital.

Jang Woo is finally reunited with Soo Yeon but she must deal with his lingering mental issues. The entire group is surprised as Park Mun Ho holds the men hostage.

The 2nd Company heads back to war as injured members are left at the hospital. Jang Woo leaves the hospital to prepare for his discharge as well as reserve enlistment.

Soo Yeon works on a patient's foot as the Chinese army quickly approaches. A happy Tae Ho hugs Jang Woo when they meet years later to share stories from their lives.
