Shiki Ichinose is attacked by an unknown assailant, fleeing with his adoptive father. He learns he’s actually a descendant of the “Oni,” and a target of the “Momotaro Agency.” Unable to accept this, he's then captured by their pursuer, Samidare Momoya: a Momotaro operative. Shiki's father, a former Momotaro, confronts him in a fierce battle and loses. Then, Shiki awakens to his Oni powers...

Oni Agency member Naito Mudano retrieves a wounded Shiki and begins evaluating him, determining if he is fit to join the Agency. However, Shiki only wants to avenge his father. Mudano switches to a harsher test, and Shiki goes berserk. In the chaos, Shiki manages to control his Oni blood and is granted admission to Rasetsu Academy where Mudano teaches. Shiki enrolls, vowing to become stronger.

On the first day of school, the new students are thrown into a high-stakes game of “Oni Tag” against Mudano. Losing = expulsion. Shiki picks a fight with classmate Jin Kougasaki, but he can’t get his own Oni powers to work. Bracing for a finishing blow as their teammate Homare Byobugaura suddenly gets between them. She panics, unleashing her “Blood Titan" so the boys have to defend themselves.

After finally activating his powers, Shiki brings down the Blood Titan, but then can’t move afterward. Jin ignores him to charge at Mudano, but is defeated. With time running out, Shiki and Jin team up to snatch the ball right out of Mudano’s hands. Jin briefly considers keeping the win for himself, but doesn't want to owe Shiki. Just then, Mukkun, a tapir-talkie, arrives with urgent news.

Mudano takes the team on a trip to help the Kyoto base. The Momotaro Agency's Tsubakiri Momomiya and Yomogi Momokusa launched an attack on the Oni, leaving dozens of wounded. Mudano entrusts the students to Commander Oiranzaka, heading to battle. While the others help the infirmary, Shiki looks after a little girl. While doing his best to cheer her up, the corpses of her parents are brought in.

Tsubakiri laced the Oni corpses brought into the infirmary with his bacteria, making the dead attack their former comrades. Commander Oiranzaka orders an evacuation of the near-annhilated Kyoto base, and Shiki joins his friends to fend off their reanimated dead comrades. Elsewhere, Mudano’s team confronts Tsubakiri’s, but then Yomogi traps them. Tsubakiri then unleashes a monster called an Ugly.

Oiranzaka and Jin find Tsubakiri and Yomogi infiltrating the Kyoto base. Oiranzaka immediately orders Jin to warn the others, but Yomogi seals the entire base with her power. Everyone realizes there's no escape. Then, one of the Uglies attacks. Sazanami and Kiriyama hide, only for an Ugly to chase after them. Rokuro tells Kuina she’s the only one he can rely on, and she confronts the creature.

The Ugly attack scatters Shiki's group. Sazanami killed one of them, only for a second Ugly to nearly kill her. Powerless to intervene, Kiriyama cowers in fear. He thinks of his dead girlfriend, and how strong he was with her. For her sake, he resolves to fight. Meanwhile, Shiki's fights a different Ugly, but Mei has given up. Shiki tells her to not give in, and launches his own counter-attack.

Tsubakiri squares off against Shiki with a Momotaro's corpse. Shiki lashes out, only to learn the dead Momotaro wanted this. Borrowing the corpse’s power, Tsubakiri drives Shiki into a corner. Mudano finds the base entrance sealed by Yomogi, and can't safely force it open. Then, using Yusurube and Homare's abilities, they clear the area of bystanders while Jin battles Yomogi, and is trapped by...

Samidare arrives to the Momotaro Agency's Tokyo HQ, declaring that he will kill Shiki, one of the “Children of Kishin.” Tsubakiri tortures Shiki until he collapses, then moves to kill Mei in front of him, mocking her parents' deaths. Mei sinks into despair, until Shiki’s desperately cries out. Then, fire engulfs Shiki's body...proof that the divine power of the Flame Oni "Enki" has awakened.

Shiki’s power after awakening is overwhelming. Even amidst the flames, Tsubakiri’s hatred for Oni refuses to waver, and Shiki barely manages to defeat him. With the Kyoto base on the verge of collapse, Shiki falls unconscious. Meanwhile, Mudano’s group abandons capturing Yomogi to focus on rescuing allies. The next morning Shiki learns that, despite the heavy casualties, they have survived.

A storm descends on Rasetsu Academy, so Mudano announces an evacuation drill for the students. They'll be spending the night in the gym. After settling in to enjoy a meal, a fight breaks out between Shiki and Jin over leftover pudding until Mudano steps in. That night, the boys start swapping ghost stories, when suddenly, there's a blackout, with a pale white figure floating silently in the air!

To observe the various divisions of the Oni Agency in Tokyo, Shiki and the others visit Hikarigaoka in Nerima Ward. While sneaking off alone to a local festival, Shiki meets a police officer named Mikado, and the two quickly hit it off. Acting under Mudano’s orders and disguised, Shiki introduces himself as “Natsu” and promises to meet Mikado again.

After using Blood Eclipse Release in the city, Jin is detected by the Momotaro surveillance network. Forced to evacuate, Shiki and the others go into hiding with Mudano at the Oni Agency’s Nerima Branch base. Meanwhile, the Momotaro Agency begins moving to capture Jin.

Shinya visits the Momotaro Agency’s Nerima Branch and asks for the cooperation of Unit 20’s commander, Tsukuyomi Momoka, and vice-captain Osuke Momokado. In exchange for letting them take credit for defeating a Child of Kishin, he asks them to take a shot at fighting Mudano, the former ace of the Oni Battle Unit.

After being rescued, Jin reveals that the girl he once helped has been taken hostage. He, Shiki, and Mudano rush to the hospital, but Mudano, sensing an enemy presence, breaks off. When the other two arrive, they find the hospital inexplicably engulfed in flames.

Osuke Momokado challenges Mudano to a fight. Mudano skillfully deflects the attacks from Osuke’s extendable chain sickle and overwhelms him with powerful martial arts and a Blood Eclipse Release. Even so, the battle-crazed Osuke feels no fear. Delighting in the clash with a strong opponent, he abandons defense and charges straight at Mudano.

When Shiki and the others arrive at the girl’s home, they find it already in flames. With the hospital fire still fresh in their minds, it’s hard to believe it’s just a coincidence. They return to the Nerima Base to report the situation. Unable to locate the hideout of the subordinates who kidnapped Jin, members of the “Kanto Nuts Union,” Shiki once again turns to Mikado for help. Wanting to believe in his friend, Mikado asks Shinya to track down the hideout’s location and heads there himself, determined to see the truth with his own eyes.

Using his Momotaro ability to see through Jin’s vision, Shinya locates the Oni’s new base and leads Tsukuyomi, Osuke, and Mikado in a surprise attack. However, the Oni they expected to find in large numbers are nowhere to be seen. In a panic, Shinya checks Jin’s view again, only to see his own back reflected there.

Facing off against Tsukuyomi, who unleashes his abilities through tarot cards, Mudano is forced entirely on the defensive. Caught off guard for a moment, he takes a potentially fatal hit, but he had secretly prepared a counterattack without Tsukuyomi realizing it…

On a rooftop high above the city, Shiki tries to explain his innocence to Mikado, but Mikado refuses to listen. As Mikado, seething with anger, launches his attack, Shiki realizes it’s too late for words. Resolving to fight, he responds with Blood Eclipse Release.

Overwhelmed by Mikado, who skillfully controls six guns at once, Shiki is finally struck, one of the bullets piercing his chest. As death looms and the countdown begins, his desperate desire to grow stronger awakens the power of the Enki. Amid the life-or-death battle, Shiki quickly learns to wield his Oni power, experiencing remarkable growth. Believing that he can continue to evolve even...

To stop Shiki in his berserk state, Mikado unleashes a desperate, all-out attack. Having spent all his strength, he's left speechless when Mudano arrives and refuses to finish him off. Learning the true goal of Mudano and the others, Mikado begins to reflect on what he, as a Momotaro, is truly meant to do.
