Belfort & Lupin

As a blazing sun beats down on Versailles, Belfort and Lupin discover that a young marmot named Joran has arrived with a load of ice ordered by the King! They must help him get back to his family in the mountains.

Louis XIV has commissioned a painting of Diane and Belfort by the royal painter, Alexandre-François Desportes ! But Tane and Ponne, Belfort's two sisters, deem him unworthy of posing, he's such a useless dog, they say. They decide to stop him by any means necessary.

Challenged by Lupin, Belfort's two sisters enter the labyrinth. According to the legend, all the animals that have entered it were turned into stone statues ! Belfort can't bring himself to allow Tane and Ponne, no matter how mean they can be, to remain prisoners of the labyrinth ! He convinces Lupin that it's urgent to rescue them.

As the King's hatter plans to design a new hat adorned with ostrich feathers, Madame Du Bec and Madame De Buc panic at the idea of a new fashion arriving at the Court ! They're already picturing themselves totally featherless !

Today, the Royal Dogs are put to the test before the King himself. They must retrieve a perfumed handkerchief hidden in the forest. A disaster for Belfort and his defective snout ! This time for sure, he'll disappoint his master and end up in a kennel ! Lupin, with his extraordinary sense of smell, decides to coach his friend and awaken his snout.

A great equestrian show is being prepared at the Royal Stables of Versailles. But the noble horse Bucephale is suffering from a leg ache that nobody seems to be able to cure! Bucephale is convinced he's going to be chased out of the stables and sent to the pasture

As the royal perfumer presents his latest creations to the Queen, her parrot seems to have disappeared ! And everything seems to point to Ariane (Vauban's cat) having devoured it ! Belfort and Lupin do everything in their power to clear their friend's name.

Today, Monsieur Binet, the royal wigmaker, is frantic : the Queen's favorite wig has disappeared. Gazette, the mouse, is distraught because this wig is her home ! It holds so many memories that losing it forever would be terrible. Belfort and Lupin, touched by their friend's story, become canine detectives and lead the investigation to find the wig house.

Monsieur Le Nôtre's gardeners are distressed: three moles have burrowed under the new parterre à la française to be presented to the King today ! Belfort and Lupin come to the aid of Arlette, Georgette and Colette to save them from the gardeners' traps. But the moles, with their strong characters, are determined to stay and live here, under this flowerbed where the worms are so delicious.

After eating leftovers from Louis XIV's dinner, Tane, Ponne and Diane suddenly find themselves nauseous. Belfort enlists Lupin's help to consult the animals in the Menagerie. They realize that Belfort's family has eaten an ingredient from the far off lands of the Americas : chocolate! This new ingredient to the Court is a real poison for dogs

As scientist François Villette presents his burning mirror, a pink flamingo named Chico crashes at the feet of Belfort and Lupin, and asks if he's arrived in Africa ! Realizing he's lost again, Chico laments that he has no sense of direction ! Everyone in his flamboyance mocks him for it ! Belfort and Lupin, sympathetic to Chico's despair, decide to help him find his way

Serge the llama's new enclosure creates a landslide at the Menagerie, as Madame Rosa can't stand her new neighbor. According to her, Serge is a real boor who doesn't respect etiquette. The elephant's trumpeting and the cries of the other animals can be heard all the way to the palace, disrupting the smooth running of life at the Court

There's panic in the kitchens of the Château de Versailles: there's not a single egg left for the King's meal, because they've all been requisitioned for Easter ! One of the cooks suddenly remembers that there are often swan eggs on the banks of the Grand Canal, where swans make their nests ! Belfort and Lupin do everything in their power to save the swans egg

Belfort notices that his mother is behaving very strangely: she's more stern and distant than usual and refuses to let her children near her, even going so far as to avoid them. What's going on ? After an uncontrolled big slip in the palace, Lupin finds himself locked in the clock room. Every day, at the end of the afternoon, the royal watchmaker comes to wind the clock. Belfort is devastated : if the humans discover his friend in the palace, who knows what they'll do to him! He must get the key from Bontemps and free his friend before the clockmaker arrives.

Madame Rosa has been shackled in her enclosure at the Menagerie. She's accused of having eaten all the peas in the kitchen garden, which were to be served at Louis XIV's royal dinner. Belfort and Lupin can't bring themselves to leave her chained like this.

The Ambassadors of Siam are visiting Versailles, accompanied by a young black panther named Sita. She has been entrusted with an important diplomatic mission : she must deliver a message to Ariane, the Siamese cat. Belfort will do everything in his power to help her accomplish her mission, but things get complicated when Ariane is nowhere to be found, and Lupin and Sita don't get along at all

And when he makes fun of Madame Rosa, the elephant who has neither magnificent feathers nor a beautiful mane, she becomes the laughing stock of the Menagerie. Belfort and Lupin sympathize and decide to help the poor elephant.

Ariane accidentally ripped the cloth off Louis XIV's billiard ! Horror ! Belfort and Lupin are going to help her hide this terrible mistake, before the start of the game night held this evening in the Salons. With Gazette's help, they first try to mend the billiard cloth, but the result is not convincing.
