Becoming Evil: Serial Killers Among Us

Serial murder has been with humanity since its beginning. This program, starting with London's Jack the Ripper, shows how the world became aware that there are people who will torture, mutilate, and kill repeatedly without remorse.

As Western countries industrialized, serial killers could easily move from one place to another. Cases in this program include the Axman of New Orleans, the mulatto Ax murders, and the Villisca ax murders.

By the end of World War II, Serial killers began to bask in the terror they inflicted on the public. In this program, unsolved serial killer cases include the Cincinnati Strangler, the Monster of Florence and the Zodiac Killer.

In the '70s and '80s, people began to realize that serial killers came from all walks of life. Cases in this program include the Highway of Tears, the Freeway Phantom, the Alphabet Murders, and the Oakland County Child killer.

In the 21st century, serial killers were elevated by the new obsession with true crime. Cases in this program include, Charlie Chop Off, the Colonial Parkway murders, Brazil's Rainbow Maniac and the Chicago Strangler.
