Burlesque queen Doll Face Carroll (Vivian Blaine) is dismissed from an audition for a Broadway show because she's considered unrefined. Her manager, Mike (Dennis O'Keefe), decides she can acquire some polish and also get plenty of publicity by writing her autobiography. The ghost writer and Doll Face might have more than a book on their minds.
