When Conchita Closson, a New York debutante, announces her engagement to a British aristocrat, the St. Georges set about finding an English governess for their youngest daughter, Nan.

Having arrived in London, the Buccaneers descend on the impoverished English aristocracy, charming all with their vivacity, spontaneity, and wealth.

Virginia soon makes an unpleasant discovery about her new husband, Lord Seadown. Nan meets Julius Folyat, who is immediately attracted to her, proposing marriage.

Virgina gives birth to a son. Conchita, meanwhile, is disillusioned by her marriage.

Julius insists that Nan continue with their facade of a marriage, but Nan is unable to deny her love for Guy.

When Nan discovers her Julius's secret, she is provoked into a shocking rebellion.
