Interior Design Masters

Working alone or in teams, the designers will take on a different commercial brief each week as they compete to win a career-defining prize - a major commercial contract with a luxury Cornwall Hotel. Each week their spaces will be scrutinized by Head Judge Michelle Ogundehin alongside some big industry names.

After a tough first week transforming upmarket apartments in Manchester, the remaining nine designers return to Michelle's design studio on the south coast to find out about their next challenge. Welcomed by host Alan Carr, they're happy to discover that this week they're going to be able to work on their own for the first time.

Michelle tells them that this week, the two weakest designers will be sent home, upping the stakes as they embark on this third challenge. Before they depart for Bristol, the designers must pitch their ideas to their youngest and most particular clients to date, as the students arrive at the studio to hear their plans.

Working in pairs the teams must give three retail businesses a new lease of life. But before they hit the high street, they must first meet their clients and take it in turns to pitch their design ideas.

With only five designers remaining, competition is getting tough. Before they get going, Michelle gives each of them a bespoke brief, and tells them their client is a brand-new business, so they need to work their magic.

Each team goes all out in their efforts to impress the judges this week, keen to turn their bland-looking cafes into more attractive high street destinations. One pair decide that art deco is the way to go and choose a very bold colour palette, taking inspiration from one of Margate's most famous artists, JW Turner.

Arriving at the studio, Michelle reveals that for their next project, they'll be working solo and that each will have a luxury holiday lodge to upgrade, including an open plan kitchen, living and dining space, as well as an outside terrace. These beige lakeside lodges in the heart of the Cotswolds may be luxurious, but design-wise they're the epitome of bland.

The designers arrive at Michelle's Brighton studio and realise how quiet it is with just two of them left. While they've become good mates throughout the competition, they admit that friendship will now be put to one side as they take on the biggest design challenge of their lives.
