3rd Rock from the Sun

Dick feels devastated and alone, deserted by his alien crewmates. While sitting in his Rambler convertible in a field, Harry, Sally and Tommy appear beside the car with Janet, a wife for Dick sent by the Big Giant Head. They explain that the BGH thinks that Dr. Albright is distracting Dick from his duties.

Dick frantically tries to deflect Mary's suspicions by suggesting that they elope. A puzzled Mary says that is not really possible at the moment and a disgusted Nina says Dick should tell Mary what's really going on. When Janet arrives in Rutherford, Mary demands an explanation.

Dick's baffled that Mary's still upset about his having a wife; he's moved on, so why can't she? But they're both guilty of indulging in a few practical jokes for revenge.

Dick answers Mary's phone at the office and accepts an invitation for the two of them to spend the weekend with Mary's parents, who aren't aware that Dick and Mary have broken up. Mary is frantic when she finds out, but agrees to go and pretend they're still engaged.

Dick arrives at the doctor's office to take his first physical but gets frightened and leaves before it starts. Dick tells the other aliens, who are getting ready for their Halloween festivities, that he couldn't go through with the physical.

Dick is perplexed when he finds that his clothes no longer fit, but it's apparent to everyone else that he's gained a significant amount of weight. Nina tells him that he's probably eating to fill the void left by Mary.

Dick gets called for jury duty and finds the experience baffling from the very beginning. He doesn't want to be on the jury for any case that he finds boring or insignificant, but he is also highly insulted when he's excused several times in the jury selection process.

The aliens are fed up with Seth, Sally's "artist" boyfriend. Under his influence, Sally has become unkempt, anti-establishment and extremely pretentious and when Seth's around, food disappears as if by magic. Dick has tickets to a dance performance that he ordered when he and Mary were still dating. He's upset that Mary now refuses to go with him and he has no friends to invite.

Dick, Harry, Sally and Tommy are enjoying a dinner of ice cream and cake when the discussion turns to the concept of sin. Tommy, who just studied the seven deadly sins in school, begins to list them. When it comes to sinning, it seems that all of the Solomons are equally adept.

Tommy tells Dick he'd like to meet a woman closer to his real age, someone like Angie Dickinson. He goes to Mary's to return her magnifying glass that Dick has broken, and Mary observes how immature Dick is. They start talking and are immediately engrossed in a discussion about the Aztecs. Their mutual attraction is obvious.

Officer Don takes Dick on a tour of the jail, and Dick's scandalized that little effort is being made to rehabilitate the prisoners. To make a point, he pays Eddie's fine and takes responsibility for turning him into an upstanding citizen.

Harry finds an old wheelchair in Mrs. Dubcek's garage, and, while playing with it, Dick rolls down a flight of stairs and breaks his foot. Meanwhile, Harry's thrilled that Mrs. Dubcek's daughter Vicki is back but horrified when she tells him she's practicing celibacy.

Dick realizes that he's beginning to be attracted to women other than Mary and that maybe he's ready to start dating. Meanwhile, Tommy and Harry find a wallet and return it to its owner. At first they're pleased to have done a good deed but change their minds when Mrs. Dubcek says they should have been given a reward.

While in a panic at the Super Bowl, Dick says the big women are angry and things are about to blow. Rutherford has been overrun by breathtakingly beautiful women. As if by magic, suddenly every nerd has his own stunning girlfriend, and the aliens are no exception.

The aliens follow some Venusians into the restroom and are immediately whooshed into the Venusians' lair below, captured and tied up. There they encounter Prell and Sally, who appears to be brainwashed, and the others. Prell informs the aliens of the Venusians' intention to loot the planet by hypnotizing all the men to do their bidding.

Sally goes to the gynecologist because she loves the concept of a doctor exclusively for women. In the waiting room, she announces to everyone that she's pregnant just to get some attention. Someone who looks like a homeless guy and acts like a dog shows up at the apartment: it's Pickles, Harry's pet from back home, who's followed Harry across the galaxies and has now assumed human form.

The aliens decide that they need to be a two-car family, so Sally, Harry and Tommy go shopping. Sally sees a Viper and falls in love; she must have it, even though it's way out of their price range. While standing in line at the movie theater, Dick meets Anita, a woman who immediately begins coming on to him.

An obsessed Don steals a pair of Sally's panties while she's folding laundry. Later, feeling guilty, he unsuccessfully tries to return them. When Dick orders Tommy to go observe a rave, Tommy says he's too old; he's retiring from the mission effective immediately.

Dick surprises Mary at the library -- he's come with champagne in hopes of winning her back. They talk briefly, and she assures him it's over between them, but as they start to leave, they realize that they're locked in.

George shows up at Mary's office announcing that he's left her mother again and asking if he can sleep on Mary's hide-a-bed. Mary invites the aliens over for dinner, and Sally finds George charming; she's fascinated by his WWII stories when everyone else is falling asleep.

It's Career Day at Tommy's school, and Dick's outraged that Officer Don will be a speaker while he hasn't been invited. Dr. Albright gives Sally a job as a research assistant, and, although Dick thinks it's great, he observes that Sally's never shown any interest in physics.

Dick and Mary are invited to a reception for a new professor, and Mary asks Dick to try not to act so weird. Mary says that Dick and his family are the "Addams Family." Dick asks August if he seems weird to her, and when she answers in the affirmative, he goes ballistic. Dick tells the other aliens that it's obvious that they're not fitting in. From now on, they must be statistically average.

Dr. Liam Neesam, the new professor, is causing a stir on campus. Dick thinks he's a hot shot, but can't help being fascinated because Neesam's a lot like him: pompous and totally self-absorbed. Sally suddenly finds herself dateless and decides that she and Don should get back together, but Don is mysteriously unavailable, and women at Globey's Bar and Grille have all begun gushing over him.

Don tries to kiss Sally while they're out on a date, but she won't let him. He reminds her that they've been dating for two years, and he's never been allowed to kiss her once. When Sally shares this information with the other aliens, Dick observes that romance seems to be missing from Sally's life and lends her a cheesy romance novel, which immediately captivates her.
