An already black day for Maurice turns into a nightmare when Deborah, his wife, insists on celebrating their anniversary. And when Maurice's mother finds evidence of his misery, things worsen. Meanwhile, their dysfunctional twins vie for the affections of their lovely neighbour.

Nana's on her deathbed, Hugo's drawn a concerning picture of Maurice and their neighbour Barbara's on the warpath. Maurice needs to be honest with his family, but Deborah steers his attempted revelation in a new direction.

Deborah's vivacious sister Viv comes to visit, stirring up the family, especially Deborah's suspicions that Maurice might be gay. Deborah needs to take action, but struggles to find the best course. Meanwhile Amy has a secret she wants to tell Maurice, but will he be able to return her honesty?

Maurice has been dropped by the Carols and Deborah is regretting her night with Barry. So when Barbara invites Maurice and Deborah to dinner it couldn't come at a worse time. Deborah insists they go, but Maurice has misgivings. Amy and Abigail get closer, much to Donald's upset.
