After their defeat in the battle of Badr the leaders of the Quraysh plot an attack on the Prophet. They decide to target Hamzah Ibn Abdul-Mutalib who had joined the ranks of the Prophet and who was responsible for the death of many of their people. The battle went on and Hamzah was martyred, at the hands of Wahshi Ibn Harb.

2. Al-Tufayl ibn Amr al-Dawsi
Abu Sufian continues his plan to bring down the Prophet by restricting his preaching during the pilgrimage of Mecca. They planned to not allow the Prophet to meet with Tufayl, a popular poet. Tufayl eventually hears the words of the Prophet, and accepts Islam and brings the people of Daws along with him.

3. Zayd ibn Harithah
Zayd ibn Harithah is brought to the aunt of Hakim ibn Hizam, where they discover he was not always a slave, but became one once his village was raided was sold into slavery. He is to soon worked for the Prophet Muhammad and his wife. While there he runs into his neighbor and finds out his family had not given up on looking for him. Zayd reveals that he is not a slave to the Prophet.

4. Abu Talib ibn Abd al-Muttalib
People rush to the Prophet after he called upon them from the top of Mount Safa. The Quaraysh leaders find out and decide to exchange Omara for the Prophet so that they could kill him since he was causing a stir in their system. Abu Talib rejects this deal that the Quraysh leaders proposed and assures the Prophet that they will never get him while he is still alive.

5. Ja'far ibn Abi Talib
The Prophet comforts his companions who have been tortured due to their acceptance of Islam. As their persecution increases he bands the companions together to be steadfast and patient throughout the trying times and gives them permission to migrate to Abyssinia to evade any further harm from the Quraysh, and after that they head to the Angus, to find refuge and shelter from the Quraysh.

6. Abu Dhar al-Ghifari
Abu Dahr hears of the arrival of the Prophet, and due to this lack of belief in the gods of his people and his belief that there is one God, he went to see the Prophet. He meets Ali, and after some reservation, tells Ali about his desire to meet the Prophet. After meeting the Prophet he embraces Islam, and is sent back to his people and keeps his conversion a secret until further instruction.

Ammar bin Yasser meets Suhayb Ibn Sinan after hearing what the Prophet had to say they both experience a spiritual awakening. They both want to go back to their people to spread the word however they are warned not to leave till the evening to avoid being attacked by the Quraysh folks.

Bilal was the slave of one of the masters of the Quraysh. He meets Alfadl, and from him finds out about the Prophet and his message. He decides to leave behind the gods of his master and goes to the house of Abu Bakr and pledges allegiance and converts to Islam. After his master finds out, he tortures him and would only stop if Bilal renounces Islam. Bilal endures the torture he faces.

Alfadl comes at the request of Abu Bakr and gives Umayyah gold to free Bilal ibn Rabbah from his slavery and Bilal becomes the Muezzin of the Prophet. On the day Mecca was taken by the Muslims, Bilal stood atop of the mosque, singing the praise of Allah and the Prophet to the world.

Suhayb meets along with other men in the residence of a young man who owns a home near the Ka’aba chosen by the Prophet due to its discreet location and wouldn’t be targeted by the Quraysh. Despite their secrecy, the Quraysh attack, empowered by their faith, they remain steadfast and defiant. Suhayb leaves Mecca to seek out the Prophet and follow alongside his path.

Al Miqdad lives among his people secretly, as a Muslim as he fears for himself. He agrees to go with Aswad’s men to battle with the Quraysh, and after discussions with Utbah, they agree that it is the easiest way to leave Mecca to join their brothers in faith and find protection from the Quraysh.

Muadh meets with Muadh Ben Amr Ben Al-Jamouh as they hide his father’s idols they discuss how their sadness for how his father is lost in his ways. They are able to convince Muadh ‘s father of how idol worship is not the correct path and show him the way of Islam. After much convincing, he accepts Islam and joins them.

Ibn Rawahah was a poet of the Prophet who was delicate in his words, but fierce in battle. Ibn Rawahah was devoted to the Prophet. The Prophet was displeased with ibn Rawahah for not being present. Ibn Rawahah decided the only way to make up for his mistake was to fight and become a martyr. After considering their options that they would fight despite the odds against them; the battle began. He fought and become a martyr, and the Prophet would proclaim seeing him in paradise alongside Zayd ibn Harithah and Ja’far Abi Talib.

Muaaz ibn Amr had converted to Islam, despite his parents being polytheists. He meets up with Muaaz ibn Jabal and takes his father’s idol away from him and hides it away, and after the father realizes the idol is merely an object that cannot act for itself, Muaaz convinces his father to convert to Islam.

16. Abu Ayyub al-Ansari
Abu Ayyub opened the doors of his home to the Prophet. The Prophet chose to live on the lowest floor of the home. The humility of the Prophet further impressed Abu Ayyub. After many pleas to the Prophet, Abu Ayyub convinced him to move to the upper floor. He lived with Abu Ayyub for 7 months until the mosque was completed and then moved into it and become Abu Ayyub’s neighbour.

17. Hakim ibn Hizam
Hakim made many sacrifices in the way of God. He was intelligent, rich and extremely generous giving away much of his wealth and so the people made him their leader. Hakim was good friends with the Prophet before his Prophethood and Hakim became Muslim on the day of the conquest of Mecca. He gave his title and gave up his noble status to devout himself completely to the Prophet.

18. Khabbab ibn al-Aratt
Khabab was a slave who was taken in by Umm Ammar. He tells her of how he reached Mecca and became a slave at the hands of a tribe that attacked his village. Umm Ammar has him trained in sword-making and arranges for Khabab to open a forge for him to run. Khabab became frustrated with the corrupted ways of the Quraysh and joined the Prophet and his message of the goodness of Allah.

The Quraysh plotted to kill the Prophet and to put an end to his message. They come to Abu Bakr’s home searching for him but find no one. The Prophet had been previously informed of the plot by God and instead asked Ali to take his place knowing that he would not be harmed. The Prophet then left for Yathrib.

Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf left Mecca, a rich merchant, and came to Medina as a poor man with nothing to his name. The Prophet made him brother to Sa’ad ibn ar-Rabi, Sa’ad offered him a place to stay and arranged his marriage. He turned his attention to trade in the marketplace and he became wealthy again. He took care of the people of his town and defended the Prophetand the message of Islam.

The Quraysh failed to assassinate the Prophet because of Ali aiding his escape. They decide to focus on keeping Ali in Mecca as they feared him and the role he played in the message of the Prophet. The Prophet told Ali to not fear harm as it would not befall him and entrusted his daughter Fatima to Ali. He remained for several days and then escaped Mecca with the Fatimid women from Bani Hashem.

Abu Huraira’s was a poor man, who endured frequent hunger and preferred the company of the Prophet above all other things. Whilst explaining the message of the Prophet to people he hoped to be offered a meal to eat. The Prophet called upon him to give water to the poor migrants, so they could quench their thirst. The Prophet rewards his servitude with water and rewards of a good life.
