TRIBE NINE

Two teenagers, Haru and Taiga, are brought together unexpectedly after meeting Shun Kamiya, the leader of the Minato Tribe, who takes them both to Minato’s base, Lovely Ocean. There, the two are caught up in the tribe rivalry between Minato Tribe and Shinagawa Tribe. Kamiya then decides to send Haru and Taiga to participate in the match in his place.

Captivated by the sport, Haru and Taiga join Minato Tribe. Vice-leader Saori Arisugawa shows them the ropes of the sport, but Taiga has trouble remembering all the rules. Seeing this, Kamiya proposes a practice match to help them pick things up faster. Meanwhile, the new king of Neo Tokyo, Tenshin Ōtori, gives certain orders to the Chiyoda Tribe led by his successor, Ōjirō.

The Chiyoda Tribe sweeps through and takes down the tribes in Neo Tokyo at an alarming speed. Their next target is the Minato Tribe, led by the strongest XB player, Shun Kamiya, who opposes the violent ways of the Chiyoda. Thus, the curtain of the battle between Minato and Chiyoda is raised.

The Minato Tribe falls into despair after suffering a crushing defeat by Ojiro Otori and is ordered to disband. Just when they thought things couldn’t get any worse, Saori Arisugawa is kidnapped by Hyakutaro Senju of the Adachi Tribe. With no time to mourn, the tribe must hurry to Adachi Castle to save her.

Minato challenges Adachi to an XB match to save Saori Arisugawa, but the Adachi Tribe gains the upper hand with a territorial advantage. Just then, a mysterious man, Kazuki Aoyama, appears and helps the Minato. With his help, the Minato start to turn things around, but his unsavoury tactics leave a bad impression on Haru and Taiga.

The battle between Minato and Adachi comes to an end. But Senju has another target, Ojiro Otori of the Chiyoda Tribe. The Adachi leader decides to launch a surprise assault on the Chiyoda that has been crushing other tribes in Neo Tokyo. Haru and the others who had previously lost to said tribe knew just what Chiyoda was capable of firsthand and tried to dissuade him.

Kazuki gets Taiga to leave Minato and train far away from the tribe. Haru witnesses this and distrusts Kazuki even more. Meanwhile, the Minato camp is infiltrated by a thief trying to steal Haru’s bat. Haru later suspects a certain someone is behind this.

Yui Kamiki of the Chiyoda pays a visit to the Ota Tribe and puts a hit out on Kazuki Aoyama. The Ota approached Haru in disguise. But their true colours are later revealed to be a ruthless band of thieves led by the chaos-loving Fucho Sonoda, who defied the laws of XB and accepted the job to dispose of Kazuki Aoyama and attack the Minato Tribe.

During the battle against the Ota, the Minato group learns that Kazuki was only using them to exact revenge on Ojiro Otori, who destroyed his left arm. Haru and the others are disheartened to learn this and see no point in continuing to fight. But Taiga refuses to give up just yet.

After killing his father, Ojiro Otori becomes the new king of Neo Tokyo and implements new XB laws immediately after his accession, which permit killing and having the losers obey the victors. The changes find support from the thrill-seeking public and quickly gain popularity. The Minato struggle to accept the new laws. Then, one day, Yui Kamiki of the Chiyoda challenges Minato to an XB match.

To restore XB back to its former ways, Haru and his group are determined to defeat Ōjirō. But before they can reach him, they must first get past Yui Kamiki and her elite group of Chiyoda XB players, each as strong as a tribe leader. One by one, Minato’s members fall one after another. Just then, an unexpected group shows up.

Ojiro Otori finally descends on the field himself after dismissing Yui Kamiki for resorting to despicable means to win. Haru stands in the batter’s box, grasping the bat he received from Shun Kamiya firmly in his hands. The final showdown to determine the future of XB is about to begin!
