Xam'd: Lost Memories

The peaceful Sentan Island is suddenly drawn into a violent war when a mysterious white-haired girl launches a terrorist attack. But one of the survivors of the attack discovers he has been infected with the Hiruko, a powerful spirit that transforms him into the mecha/human hybrid known as Xam'd.

A headstrong air kayak pilot named Nakiami takes Akiyuki with her onto the giant airship Zanbani. There, she begins to help him learn to control the awesome power of the Xam'd within. But not everyone on this flying ship is happy the dangerous young man is on board.

Nakiami uses a strangely powerful needle to help Akiyuki control the Xam'd. But the spike is not strong enough to conceal the spirit. Sensing the presence of the Xam'd on board the Zanbani, humanforms begin to attack the ship and Akiyuki begins to realize just how dangerous the spirit within him actually is

To help Akiyuki gain clues about the Xam'd inside him, Nakiami takes him deep into the belly of the floating airship. There, he meets the mysterious seer, Madam Tenshin who advises him to discover what the Xam'd is seeking. Meanwhile, the Free Zone military unit begins construction of an anti-humanform base on the once-peaceful Sentan Island.

When she sees a black market pirate ship, Nakiami disobeys her captain's orders to meet with Zeygend, the captain of the pirate ship. On Sentan Island, the Free Zone military begins using innocent Islanders in their humanform experiments. Unaware of these secret tests, Haru and Furuichi believe joining the military is the best way to do their part in ending the war.

Haru and Furuichi join the Free Zone military. And Furuichi discovers he has an amazing gift for learning to operate the powerful Mainsoul mecha used in battling the humanforms. Meanwhile, Captain Ishu and Nakiami clash over their opposing views of the humanforms when Nakiami disobeys orders to help a humanform from turning into stone.

Dr. Kanba's experiment on a Xam'd goes terribly wrong, and the test subject breaks loose from the laboratory. But when the Free Zone squadron attacks the creature, they find a shocking secret about the monster. Furuichi's dedication in combat, however, attracts the admiration of Commander Kakisu, who begins to prime the young soldier for greater, more dangerous missions.

Nakiami sets out to find Akiyuki and Roppa when the collar tracking device fails on their trek to Tsumebara Pass. And when General Kakisu sends Haru and Furuichi on a mission to find a missing ASP suit, they stumble upon the real reason the General has sent them to that same fateful location.

After the violent confrontation with his old friend Furuichi, Akiyuki is reeling from the power of the Xam'd he unleashed in the battle. And the mysterious bearded traveler Raigyo joins his old friends on the Zanbani, only to reveal he has a strange kinship with Akiyuki. Meanwhile, Dr. Kanba begins to use the green soulstone to perfect the anti-humanform weapons.

Akushiba tells Akiyuki the tragic story of how Raigyo came to be infected with the same spirit that lives within him. Both accounts reveal a mysterious connection with the strange, cult-like white-haired people. Feeling a kindred soul, Raigyo begins to train Akiyuki in how to use the Xam'd spirit to his advantage and his survival.

A squadron of humanforms attack the Zanbani, attracted to the Xam'd within both Raigyo and Akiyuki. But Captain Ishu and her crew are not going to allow the humanforms to take over their ship so easily. But when the leader of the attacking force meets with Ishu, she makes a surprising demand.

The battle with the humanforms sidelines the Zanbani and the crew is forced to crash land, and make time-consuming repairs. Once there, Nakiami decides she needs to follow her destiny and return to Tessik Village and Akiyuki realizes this may be his last chance to return to his home of Sentan Island.

Returning to Sentan Island, Akiyuki finds that many things have changed. His father has begin conducting experiments, and has hidden a very surprising patient in his home. Meanwhile, his best friend Furuichi has allowed his jealousy of to get the best of him. And the Xam'd within him is giving him dangerous power to do something about the envy that is consuming him.

Reunited once more, Akiyuki and Furuichi reveal that each have been possessed by the strange power of the Xam'd. But whereas Akiyuki has begun to tame his spirit, Furuichi's jealousy and anger causes his Xam'd to transform into a dangerous monster that threatens his old friends.

With the Xam'd obscuring his face and his memory, Akiyuki falls victim to a band of slave traders, with his only hope to be purchased by a sympathetic owner. Meanwhile, Nakiami must abandon her sky kayak and continue her journey on foot. As she travels, she meets a young street urchin named Yango. But Nakiami soon discovers there is more to this tough kid than meets the eye.

Saddened by her injury and feeling guilty for her mother's death, Midori decides to join the military. However, once she is enlisted, Sukakki puts her in Kanba's dangerous experimentation program. On their way to Tessik village, Nakiami and the young Xam'd Yango become closer.

Now under the kind care of the mysterious old woman Sumako, Akiyuki seems to be regaining both his memory and his wellbeing. Meanwhile, Professor Kanba is pressured by General Kakisu to accelerate his dangerous experiments which could have disastrous consequences for the emotionally unstable Midori. Fusa discovers Ryuzo is keeping the terrorist alive in his laboratory.

Nakiami and the young Yango return to Tessik at last and are welcomed back by the Tamayobi tribe. But the leader of the clan, the beautiful but secretive Kujireika seems to have quite an interest in Nakiami. Back on Sentan Island, Midori begins to feel more confident in her role with the military, much to her sister Haru's concern.

When The Far East Autonomy captures one of the terrorists, Professor Kanba begins to regret his diabolical part in the war and tries to repent to the young stranger. General Kakisu, meanwhile, decides to pressure the prisoner for answers. But the terrorist seems to know a great deal more about Kakisu than the General realizes.

General Kakisu confronts Professor Kanba about his new reticence to continue the experiments on the test type Xam'd. And the military at last makes a decisive air strike against Lady Kujireika and her tribe. While Yango tries to use his Xam'd powers to help, someone with much more devastating power is revealed. Akiyuki and Haru, now reunited, are joined by a white-haired stranger.

During an interrogation session, Lord Azami reveals that he knows General Kakisu's secret from his past, and the real motivation for his warmongering. Another military General decides it is time to use his power to stop the war once and for all, with help from Akiyuki's father. The mysterious Shiroza, after befriending Akiyuki and Haru, takes them deeper within the Quickening Chamber.

Jinichiro and the General infiltrate the military to try to stop the escalation of the war, despite Fusa's objections to their plan. Commander Ishu and Raigyo decide to join in the insurgent effort as well, while General Kakisu and Doctor Ryuzo have a final, deadly confrontation about their past. And now, deep within the Quickening Chamber, Shiroza tries to get Akiyuki to join their cause.

Nakiami seeks help from her old friend, the black market pirate Zeygend. Captain Ishu and Raigyo try to stop the war from inside enemy lines and, at last, see the true face of the dark Hiruken Emperor--with deadly consequences. Professor Kanba's latest experiment begins to exert a dangerous power that is beyond his control.

Shiroza and his chanting tribe prepare for the salvation they've prayed for, but little Yango isn't so sure about Shiroza's real intent. Meanwhile, Professor Kanba's experiment has reached its terrible conclusion and Midori, overcome with grief and unable to control her new Xam'd powers, becomes a dangerous player in the war.
