February 1945. While Paris and the East of France are liberated, 90,000 German soldiers remain entrenched in six Atlantic strongholds, ordered to fight to the end, even at the cost of cities and civilians. Months of battle will be needed to retake them. Saint-Nazaire, the last, falls only with Berlin's surrender to the Red Army.
