Unburdening himself on his deathbed, the roguish and terminally-ill IVF pioneer, Julius Bechly, makes an operatic confession: admitting he provided much of the 'anonymous' donor sperm at his clinic, unofficially fathering an unknown number of children. Julius's one legitimate child, the good-hearted but messy Julia, makes it her business to try and set things right.

Julia is looking forward to putting the shock of the Bechly scandal behind her but news that she slept with her brother, Sam, has gone viral and Julia discovers her job is on the line. Edie struggles to choose her marriage and her sisters over the more thrilling alternatives: colleague Amanda and the class action.

Overwhelmed by life's curveballs and the invasion of her space, Julia is tipped over the edge. Roxy offers to take care of Julius for the day and finds the experience more surprising than she expected. Edie recruits Roxy's parents, Ron and Diane, to the class action, working closely with Amanda and finding it difficult to keep her feelings at bay.

After a lukewarm reception of Roxy's new image on Farmyard Frank, Roxy searches for another way to take control of her career. While Julia embarks on a mission to find the first and last of the Bechly babies - using a collection of photos from Julius's study to identify the first, known only as 'Mr Smiley Face'. Meanwhile, the pressure builds for Edie to manage her workplace affair.

In the wake of the publicity campaign, Edie's class action gathers momentum. Roxy sees a romantic future for herself and Carl, but she has a surprising revelation to make. Edie confesses her affair with Amanda to her husband Tim. Julia meets with the first Bechly Baby; prison inmate Abraham.

Julia's under pressure but class actions and financial assets are of no interest to her. A surprising request from Edie's law firm piques her interest. Roxy agrees to a date with Isaac. Edie, Tim and Amanda are forced into a mediation session none of them wants to endure.

Casey hosts a dinner party. Carl pursues Julia. Julia, Roxy and Edie face a series of unexpected trials. A series of shocks push Roxy back into bad habits. Tim and Edie confront some big questions. Julia makes an important request of Isaac. A family gathering draws an unexpected guest.
