World War II was the first time in the history of human conflict, a war was fought by men and machines in the air at night. Veterans from both sides recount the commonplace bravery and horror that they faced on a daily basis. The war had become not only a battle between the brave men of the Royal Air Force and the Army Air Corps and the Luftwaffe, but also a struggle of science and technology.
