The Doones have underestimated the strength of their opponents. Carver is not going to give Lorna up easily. In a plan to destroy John and Lorna's union, Counsellor Doone brings some shocking news. But as Tom Faggus returns from London, it seems Lorna is not a Doone, but royalty. Much to John and Lorna's dismay, Captain Stickles insists that Lorna must accompany him to London to the King's court.
