Dan spends the night in a cell having been questioned by the Gardai on suspicion of the murder of Niall Boylan. Dan is released without charge only to be confronted by Niall's brother Derek, who warns Dan that he will pay for murdering his brother.

With his Medical Council Enquiry looming, Dan's confidence takes a further knock at the hands of his peers at St. Matthews. Determined to move away from the aesthetics side of plastic surgery, Dan invests his own money to secure a high profile operation for an African aid charity, Geal.

Dan is in a confident mood on the morning of the medical council enquiry, as he turns down Alice's offer of moral support. However, when Daisy learns of the enquiry, she won't take no for an answer and insists on accompanying him.

Franny collapses, prompting Terry to ask Ruairi to move back home. Grace reveals to Franny that his tumor has unexpectedly grown leaving him only weeks to live.

Alice is nowhere to be seen following her break-up with Dan –who already appears to have Daisy in his sights. However, when Daisy refuses to go with Dan to the Plastics' Society annual dinner, Dan is chastened and hurt.

It is Dr. Edel Swift's first day at Clarence Street and her minor injuries clinic proves a huge success with patients attending in their droves.

All hell breaks loose when a caller asks Clodagh on her live radio show if it's true that a doctor in the Clinic has infected a patient with HIV. Daisy and Dan discuss how best to proceed with this potentially disastrous publicity.

Dan packs up his flat and prepares to leave Clarence Street for good. When he goes into his surgery, Dan is faced with Diarmaid and Lucille- whom claim they had been shot in a disagreement over poker.
