It's the early nineties. Fourteen-year-old Tomek lives with his mother in Wroclaw. The boy grows up without a father who emigrated to the USA. However, one day his father Alek unexpectedly turns up at their doorstep, bringing expensive presents for his son. However, happiness does not last long, when the family discovers that Alek has an addiction he cannot fight.
