Tomo-chan Is a Girl!” started on Twitter in 2015, this awkward yet straightforward romance between the boyish protagonist and her childhood friend became loved by readers. The series regrettably ended in 2019. It won 1st place for the Web Manga category in the 2nd Annual NEXT MANGA AWARDS.

Tomo's British classmate, Carol Olston, has a doll-like beauty paired with a fluffy, airheaded personality akin to cotton candy and boasts immense popularity among the boys in school. However, she is the fiancee of Tomo's karate team senior, Kosuke Misaki, and bears hostility towards Tomo for being close to him. Carol, following Misuzu's advice, begins training with Junichiro to defeat Tomo.

Tomo is shaken up by the revelation that Junichiro and Misuzu dated back in middle school. Cornered by Tomo, Misuzu tells her what happened in the mere three days she was seeing him. Meanwhile, Junichiro had assumed that Misaki, who gets along with Tomo, was a girl and begins intimidating him upon learning he is a boy. The two run into each other at the bus stop after school.

Tomo is envious at the sight of the girls in class being chummy. Misuzu turns down her keen desire for skinship. With no one to turn to, Tomo randomly hugs Ogawa and Mifune. While she enjoys her girly frolicking, Misuzu appears to be acting oddly. Noticing this, Tomo tries to discover the reason together with Carol.

Upon Carol's invitation, Tomo and Misuzu head to her home. What awaited them was a mansion surrounded by a seemingly endless fence. Later on, Tomo and Carol have a study session at Misuzu's in preparation for the upcoming midterms. There, Carol displays an unexpected aptitude. Having somehow made it through their exams, Junichiro invites Tomo over for a gaming camp.

Tomo receives unpredictable gifts from Junichiro, Misuzu and Carol for her birthday. To celebrate, Misuzu proposes to fashion her to look girlier on the weekend. Once dolled up with makeup and feminine clothes by Misuzu and Carol, Tomo is tasked with an errand. Embarrassed, she tries to get it done quickly but unfortunately runs into Junichiro.

It's summer. Tomo and friends to go the beach for some fun under the blue sky. Encouraged by Misuzu and Carol to make the best of this golden opportunity to get closer to Junichiro, Tomo changes into the swimsuit they bought together but is embarrassed to take her hoodie off.

Towards the end of the summer break, Misuzu and Carol sleep over at Tomo's room. They play a round of King's Game where Misuzu orders Tomo to attend the fireworks festival with only Junichiro for company. Tomo is bewildered when he accepts her invitation without displaying his usual enthusiasm. Under the starry sky lit by fireworks, Tomo tries to convey her feelings to Junichiro once more.

The affair at the abandoned factory left Misaki with a painful reminder of his weakness and a desire to be strong enough to protect Carol. Seeking that strength, he joins the Aizawa Dojo where Tomo lives. What awaits him on his first day is a hellish training regimen and his first spar with Junichiro.

A marathon involving the entire Uenomizu High student body is underway. In contrast to Misuzu and Carol's utter lack of enthusiasm, Tomo and Junichiro are raring to compete for the first time in a while. Meanwhile, Tanabe's fervent attempts to draw Misuzu's attention are brushed off. Their race heats up just as they approach the girls' turnaround point. What will the outcome be...?

Junichiro's birthday approaches and Tomo, in need of money to buy him a present, takes on Tanabe's proposal to work part-time at his family's ramen shop along with Misuzu and Carol. As Tomo is flustered over unfamiliar work, Junichiro drops by... One day, Tomo unsurprisingly lands the role of the Prince, while Misuzu, who is away sick, is put forward by Carol to be Cinderella...

Junichiro has begun viewing Tomo as a girl but carries on competing in games with her at the school festival. But towards the end of the festival, he invites her to dance and says something akin to a declaration of love. Tomo reflexively pushes him and runs away. Come winter, she continues avoiding him, so he seeks Misaki's advice.

Their feelings now mutual, every day is a lovey-dovey day for Tomo and Junichiro. However, Tomo's tendency to panic makes her vexed at Junichiro's composure. Confiding in Misuzu and Carol again leads to her and Junichiro going to watch a film with a kiss scene on Christmas. On the day, Tomo follows Misuzu's plan and tries to hold his hand during the kiss scene.
