Nestled in the sleepy countryside lies Kasamatsu Tracen Academy. Jo Kitahara, a trainer, can't help but bemoan the state of regional races compared to the star-studded national scene. But one day, as he passively watches the newest batch of racers practice, he spots an ashen-haired Umamusume. After seeing her stunning racing form, Jo Kitahara is convinced—at long last, he's found a star.

Oguri Cap and Belno Light are officially scouted by Jo Kitahara. Seeing as a racer needs to belong to a team in order to race, Oguri Cap accepts and begins training for her debut race. Musaka gives Tracen Academy's two newest students—Oguri Cap and Belno Light—a tour of the expansive campus. Afterwards, Oguri Cap comes face to face with her new classmates—and potential rivals. As class begins, the teacher explains the goal of many of her contemporaries, the G1 Classic Triple Crown. There's just one problem...

Oguri Cap's transfer from Kasamatsu has unfortunately overlapped with the registration deadline for the Classic races. Eager to show Symboli Rudolf she has what it takes to take on these races, she sets her sights on the G3 Pegasus Stakes. But standing in her way is a racer with four consecutive wins under her belt...

Symboli Rudolf witnesses Oguri Cap's might firsthand—the no-name racer from the boonies wipes the floor with even the strong national racers. In her, Symboli Rudolf sees a star capable of setting the Twinkle Series alight. But should she use her authority to advocate for a miracle at the Japan Derby, or should she remain loyal to the rules?

Ultimately, Oguri Cap is unable to enter the Japanese Derby, which means she needs a new racing goal. Hoping to inspire Oguri Cap, Musaka takes her and Belno Light to see the Takarazuka Kinen, a Grand Prix race where the lineup is decided by a fan poll. There, Oguri Cap witnesses the racer currently dominating the Twinkle Series.

Musaka declares that if Oguri Cap wants to take on Tamamo Cross in the fall Tenno Sho, she has to win the Mainichi Okan. A task easier said than done, as Oguri Cap's winning streak means all her rivals' eyes are on her. The crowd is on the edge of their seats as the racers enter the homestretch of the fall Tenno Sho. With 400 meters remaining, each runner musters their last strength.
