Raff's loyalty to Genevieve is seriously tested when her desire runs rampant. Kareena's attraction to Nik is reawakened. And Nik inadvertently injures Tessa when he steps in to protect Linda.

Linda struggles to avoid criminal charges for a road rage incident and pressure mounts on Nik, who's under investigation for causing an injury to a patient, while also searching for a ring we learn is all his family have left after a catastrophic flood in India.

Trevor scores a date with shop assistant after giving her the impression he's the nurse and Nik's the patient. Kareena is confronted when her personal therapist comes to see someone on the Ward, and Nik struggles with the distressing phenomenon of feeling like he's observing himself from outside of his own body.

James suffers a catastrophic loss of identity, Tessa discovers her mother has disposed of all her belongings, Linda's attempts to win favour with her colleagues goes awry and when Nik's mother comes to stay, memories of his baby brother plague him.

Raff is horrified to discover ECT has robbed Genevieve of their most precious shared memory. Collette confronts Linda about her bullying behaviour and winds up discovering the truth about her boss. Nik's job application is successful and his desire for Kareena evolves into an invitation.

Patient Baz is admitted to the ward after threatening his neighbour with a hedge trimmer and turns out to be Rohan's greatest fear come true. Conflict between Nik and Kareena spills into a moment of unguarded passion and Kareena admits she's concerned Nik is becoming unhinged. In the lead up to Renuka's wedding, Nik realises the details around his brother's death don't add up.

Nik is becoming suspicious of his family and bombarded by an increasing assault of disjointed memories. Ejected from his sister's wedding and rapidly unravelling, he returns to Wakefield where his obsession over a missing puzzle piece culminates in a crisis and he is forced to face the horrifying truth of his past.
