The Adventures of Black Beauty

Black Beauty, a spirited black horse, escapes from an unkind dealer and is found ailing, exhausted and lost by Kevin and Vicky Gordon. They quickly become attached to the stallion, who is cared for by their father, Dr. Gordon. However, they are devastated when the horse's owner comes to reclaim him.

An escaped convict holds Kevin and Black Beauty hostage and forces Vicky to get food and clothing so he can complete his escape. The convict must choose between escape and coming to the aid of Kevin, who has fallen from a tree.

Vicky helps young Billy who has rescued his pit pony from being slaughtered but is accused of theft in the process.

Vicky, Kevin, and Black Beauty encounter two workmen who decide that stealing the horse is a way to a better life. Where they choose to hide Beauty is unfortunately the site of some dynamite blasting, leading to a race to rescue him.

While riding Black Beauty, Vicky and Kevin encounter a threatening recluse at the Abbott farm. Despite being warned by everyone to stay away, the children persist in trying to solve the mystery. When a runaway horse endangers young David Abbott, the children get their answer.

Dr. Gordon and Vicky rescue a former army horse whose end seems near. Robbie, over protected by his grandmother, becomes friends with the Gordon children after moving nearby. Robbie becomes enchanted by the new horse, Soldier.

Beauty is at risk from a spoiled young woman who is used to getting everything that she wants. In order to save Beauty, Vicky enlists the help of a secret society sworn to protect the interests of horses.

Vicky discovers a young man, wounded in a duel. She takes him back to Dr. Gordon but the family is soon caught up in a dangerous and treachorous plot that places them all in peril.

Kevin and Robbie find an old Viking helmet. Meanwhile, Vicky comes across an archaelogical dig and the handsome Peter Stockman.

The net is closing in on the artifact thief. Meanwhile, Robbie endangers himself when he tries to find the missing part of the helmet.

Black Beauty starts showing unusual behavior and Dr. Gordon suspects rabies. After Beauty attacks two men including the new constable, he is ordered destroyed. But Vicky hides her horse: nothing is as it seems and Black Beauty had a good reason for his behavior.

Vicky discovers some lethal traps on Lord Eddington's land which leads to a dispute with the new gamekeeper who is keen to make an impression, having been unemployed for many years and with a pregnant wife to support.

Vicky and Albert help Colin Eddington save the family estate from his unscrupulous cousin by solving the riddle, left by his Grandfather, that will lead to hidden treasure.

Vicky tries to help break a horse who won't be broken and Kevin and Robbie befriend a clown who cannot seem to find his niche.

Black Beauty is in danger of losing his freedom when a recruiting sergeant of the British Army tricks Kevin into joining the army. Meanwhile, Vicky tries to help young Tom who has run away from the unscrupulous sergeant.

Amy is forced to take drastic action in order to protect a wayward relative as well as save Beauty from being sold at the Horse Fair.

A vagabond natural healer is on the run from several people who hold him responsible for regrettable outcomes. Vicky and Dr. Gordon step in to give him temporary sanctuary, which is fortunate when Beauty suffers a severe laceration.

Vicky bumps into an eccentric woman, Mrs Allingham, while out riding Beauty. Albert is convinced that she is a witch but all the children are forced to confront their fears and prejudices when the boys lose their kite on her property.

Kevin and Albert help to look after the wild forest ponies but a mysterious illness is killing them and, soon, Beauty's life is in danger too.

Dr. Gordon is kidnapped by desperate men, one of whom is wounded. After the men threaten to harm Vicky and Beauty, Gordon is forced to aid them.

Vicky and Kevin help to hide two orphans on the run and learn how lucky they are to have a home and people who love them.

When the Gordon and his neighbor, Lady Faulkner, discover that her racing horses are being drugged, their curiosity gets the best of them. After Dr. Gordon is attacked and Albert rescues the constable from a well, the pieces start to come together. But it's Black Beauty who delivers the decisive moment.

Vicky visits an old cottage believed to be haunted and finds an ex sailor living there. He proves to be a friend when a lawyer threatens to evict the Gordon family from their home.

Dr. Gordon rescues a family from their squalid tenants' cottage saying that the place should be burned down. When the house does burn down, Dr. Gordon is the chief suspect and it is up to Vicky, Albert and Beauty to prove his innocence.
