It's a brand new year and a brand new bunch of excited, teenage hopefuls arrive at Solar Blue to live and train together and compete for the end of year surf-offs. But major changes have occurred at the academy and two of the students discover that things don't go quite according to plan.

The new students have some decisions to make - everything from choosing which room they'll take to who their coach will be - and agreement isn't easy to come by.

Despairing of the bad luck that's prevented him from returning to Solar Blue, Charley is forced to re-think his attitude by a surprise visitor.

Angus reveals that Solar Blue is under threat of closure. To save the Academy, he organises new prototype surfboards for the team to ride at the next surf comp, with disastrous results.
