Having fled their lives in Bristol, Mitchell, George and Nina find a new home to live... in Barry, South Wales. At the forefront of their minds is rescuing Annie from the Afterlife. Distraught and afraid, Annie manages to get a message through to Mitchell: if he doesn’t rescue her soon they’re going to send her to Hell.

Annie is keen to suppress the traumas she endured in Purgatory and get back to the usual routine of serving the household endless cups of tea plus deciding that she will be Mitchell’s Guardian Angel! Happy to be back to ‘normal’, George and Nina set off for work whilst Mitchell prepares for a job interview.

Annie is accosted by mouthy ‘it girl’ Sasha when she’s out for a midnight stroll. But this is no ‘ordinary’ supernatural – Sasha is a zombie. Having endured her insults and rotting odour, the housemates agree that Sasha must be returned to the hospital from where she escaped.

With the first full moon since Nina fell pregnant imminent, George and Nina are worried whether the baby will survive the transformation. They go in search of other werewolves to find out as much information as possible, starting in the woods where George encountered a young man carrying the tell-tale chicken-on-a-string the night of the last full moon.

Herrick is back. Before the hospital can discover he’s a vampire, Nina saves the situation by saying that ‘Uncle Billy’ should be home with her. Confronted by his erstwhile adversary, Mitchell’s gut reaction is to stake Herrick immediately. Nina is outraged, sure that Herrick can’t remember being a vampire and is therefore effectively innocent. George is stunned: he ripped Herrick’s head off.

George is shocked to discover in the newspaper that his father has died. He resolves to go to the funeral, but hide in the bushes so that no one will see him. When he gets there, though, he finds that he's not the only one crouching behind the bracken - his father, George Senior, now a ghost, is there too.

Annie is determined to help the Box Tunnel investigation in order to clear Mitchell’s name. Mitchell implores her to stop – if the police arrested Daisy and took her photo, it would threaten to reveal the existence of all supernaturals. Annie doesn’t heed this warning and continues with her part in the investigation.

Locked up in prison, Mitchell desperately tries to convince Annie to let him out. She has no such intentions – she wants justice for the Box Tunnel Twenty. The police are increasingly confused as to why Mitchell’s image doesn’t show on any of the cameras.
