Over Grenzen

In episode 1 we witness the stream of cocaine from South America to the ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp. We join the police forces looking for the criminals who empty the containers and meet the gangs in Santos, Brazil who arrange for the drugs to come to the Netherlands and Belgium. Also, an answer to the question: what global role do the Netherlands and Belgium play concerning the drug trade?

Episode 2 is all about synthetic drugs, and in particular the dangerous newcomer, Chrystal Meth. A lot of pill manufacturers have switched to this dangerous drug, because there is more profit to be made, often with help from sources in Mexico. And for the first time, we see how the cartels talk and think about the Netherlands and Belgium as their target markets.

Smuggling and transporting drugs is a constant game of cat and mouse. We witness the hunt for drug runners and see the clever methods that smugglers use to get drugs to the Benelux. The key role that the Netherlands and Belgium play in the drug world creates another dangerous issue: the underworld is becoming increasingly connected with the mainstream world.

The drug trade makes a lot of victims, a lot of whom succumb to addiction. Drug use among young people is becoming more and more accepted, which has many consequences. Meanwhile, new drugs are constantly being developed to steadily increase profits. After America, the Mexican cartels see Europe as a new market for the killer drug fentanyl.
