No Ordinary Fighter Plane - The History and Commemoration of The Spitfire

The Spitfire first flew in March 1936 at speeds of 348 mph. R.J. Mitchell designed it. It took 321 employees, 13 years of continuous production, 2500 hours of labor in cold, drafty hangars to produce. Most renowned for 'The Battle of Britain'. The plane and its employees are now commemorated in a Book of Remembrance, because without them this extraordinary plane might never have been built.
