In 1986, 18-year-old Jennifer Levin is strangled to death in New York's Central Park. Her well-to-do boyfriend, Robert Chambers, admits to killing her but claims that it was an accidental result of rough sex gone wrong. Chambers is tried for murder, but he has a good lawyer who plays his defense right down to putting the dead girl on trial amid a media frenzy.
