Code 37: Sex Crimes

The body of wife and mother, Kristien Devadder, is found in a hotel room, the investigating homicide team deduce the cause of death - erotic asphyxiation, a case for the Code 37 team. It soon becomes clear that Kristien was a nymphomaniac who led a double life, but whom did she have the one-night stand which proved fatal for her?

The team receive an anonymous phone call which leads them to Deborah Verlinden, a young woman who has been brutally attacked and beaten by a man she met in a bar. Deborah is hesitant to file a complaint, nevertheless Hannah opens an investigation and makes a shocking discover. At the same time Hannah is looking for new leads into a crime she witnessed eight years ago - the rape of her mother.

Lotte Santermans wants to file a police report, while at a student party she was drugged and raped. Bob doubts her story; however, Hannah believes Lotte and goes in search of evidence. Hannah also continues to investigate the rape of her mother and asks her father to use his influence as a judge to keep the case open when there is a threat to close it due to a lack of sufficient evidence.

Walter Stals receives a DVD that shows his 20-year-old daughter Caroline, engaging in graphic sexual acts. The reputation of Walter’s law firm could be destroyed if the DVD was to be released. A suspicious and reluctant Hannah and the team get to work to find the source of the DVD. Their interest is soon spiked when a few days later Walter becomes the victim of a mysterious and brutal crime.

As Hannah searches in vain for witnesses, an under-cover operation begins. Armed with her gun, Hannah forces her way into Benny Quintens’ caravan looking for some much needed personal answers.

Shocked and alarmed, Cindy’s mother, immediately recognizes her daughter when show the images. She is certain that Cindy has been forced to appear in the movie, but by who? The pressure to find answers is intensified when the media gets hold of the story.

The dead body of a Middle Eastern man is found on the banks of the canal, he has been stabbed in the back and castrated. Hannah’s investigation reveals that the man, who was respectably married to the much older Lucienne, was leading a double life, it emerges that he certainly isn’t the only one.

Els De Backer is knocked unconscious and raped, she has no memory of the actual rape or can provide any information about her assailant. Hannah quickly realizes that Els is lying so she can keep a secret. Hannah wants to know the truth after another woman is genuinely stabbed and raped in the same location.

Ghent's red-light district is in turmoil when prostitute Eva Meskens is the victim of a knife attack. Injured and traumatised, Eva is unable to provide many details of the assault. Not deterred the team open their investigation, but each avenue leads to a dead end. It is not long before the offender strikes again and leaves his "permanent signature" of a religious symbol on another victim.

Hannah becomes the victim of an attack by mentally challenged Tim Vlaeminck, he becomes the lead suspect in the investigation into recent attacks on known prostitutes. Hannah advances in her own private investigation, the trail leads her a cemetery in Campo Santo.
