Trial & Retribution

North (Kate Buffery) has transferred to the Vice Squad where a routine call to appease persistent complainer Stephen Warrington (Richard E.Grant) spirals into something far more sinister. As Warrington's behaviour becomes increasingly obsessive, North suspects there is more to him than meets the eye. Meanwhile, Walker and North have moved in together, and they struggled to strengthen their fledgling romance while working flat out on their separate cases. When Stephen Warrington becomes a suspect in the murder case, their paths cross at work as well as at home.

In a tense final act, Warrington and Wilding are tried together in a cut throat trial, as Warrington's Defence Barrister Halliday (Simon Callow) is pitted once more against Prosecution Counsel Willis Fletcher (David Fleeshman), but as North takes the stand as a key witness, this time the two men are joined by wily barrister Norma O'Sullivan (Frances Tomelty). Only one man is guilty of murder. Can the jury unravel the complex web of lies and see justice done? Can North cope with Warrington's persistent fixation with her? And can her relationship with Walker flourish under relentless pressure?
