Imbewu:The Seed I

In 1993, we meet a young Ngcolosi as he convinces his brother Phakade to sell his cattle to invest in an oil company. In Umlazi a young MaZulu reveals to MaNdlovu that Ngcolosi is sterile. Present day: the successful Bhengu family has four children.

MaNdlovu and MaZulu try to track down Macingwane, but Ngcolosi beats them to the punch. Ngcolosi finally hears Macingwane's message but is persuaded that the man is wrong. Zane trashes his office ahead of an important interview, disturbing Pranav.

MaNdlovu consults her healer looking for a way out of performing an Umemulo for Buhle, but the healer insists it must be done. MaNdlovu and MaZulu share this information with Phakade, who grudgingly undertakes helping them to make the problem go away.

The tension between Ngcolosi and Zane escalates. The situation with the Sangoma grows tense threatening the family secret, forcing MaNdlovu to confront Ngcolosi and convince him not to react. Namadonsela fears her husband has feelings for MaZulu.

Phakade is compelled to lie to Namadonsela about where he's going. Macingwane warns that if the ancestors aren't appeased then they will suffer the consequences.

MaZulu starts to wonder whether MaNdlovu is struggling with her sanity after the shock of the sign from the ancestors, and tries to keep her away from the edge.

Phunyuka gets rid of the Sangoma before the man can confront Ngcolosi and then instructs some minions to ensure that the Sangoma stays away.

Zithulele confronts Macingwane, warning him to stay away from the Bhengu family. Zane begs Belinda for a second chance. Meanwhile, MaNdlovu and MaZulu worry about whether Phakade will reveal their secret.

Phakade visits Ngcolosi to tell him the truth, but his resolve is tested when he observes the heartfelt relationships Ngcolosi enjoys with his children. Pranav tries to convince Ngcolosi and Zane to vote together and protect their friendship.

MaNdlovu and MaZulu fear the worst when Phakade threatens to tell Ngcolosi the truth. Zane loses the crucial boardroom vote but is strangely calm about the situation while he rekindles things with Belinda.

With the tension mounting between Ngcolosi and Phakade, MaNdlovu deems it fit to intervene and settle the stand-off between her two sons, she tries to persuade Ngcolosi to give ten percent of his equity stake in Maluju oil to his brother.

MaNdlovu realizes that Zithulele's curiosity could become problematic for them. Ngcolosi shocks pranav when he informs him that he wants them to depose Zane from the company as both coo and shareholder.

MaNdlovu remains determined to burn down the sangoma's house, despite Mazulu's reservations. Pranav is appeased by Ngcolosi's motives for adding the clause to depose a shareholder to the articles of association.

Phunyuka tricks macingwane into leaving his home and then burns down the house. Mandlovu goes to see the ruins for herself and is left unsettled.

After revealing he knows the secret, Phunyuka swears he will never tell anyone. MaZulu fears he's a threat, but MaNdlovu believes he's an ally. She declares Phunyuka is now part of the Bhengu family.

Namadonsela is insistent that she wants to birth Phakade a son. Ngcolosi and Pranav break the news about Zane's firing to their respective families.

MaZulu wants to know why Ngcolosi is so hard on Zithulele and so gentle with buhle. The board votes, but Zane swears vengeance and bows out before they can kick him out. Zane is packing up to leave when Nganono comes to say goodbye.

Zithulele is about to leave the family home when Ngcolosi takes the key effectively, keeping him there. Zithulele is frustrated by his father's inability to talk, but MaNdlovu points out that Ngcolosi's actions speak loudly enough.

Ngcolosi tells Pranav he wants the majority share but convinces him he's not making a power play, but Shria is vehemently opposed to the idea, and Nirupa worries it will compromise Pranav and Ngcolosi's relationship.

Ngcolosi learns about Buhle's mishap and is disturbed by it. He is not satisfied with the explanation he receives for it from MaNdlovu and MaZulu.

Zithulele's attempts to convince the manager about his latest project continue to fall on deaf ears. Pranav proposes they bring in Ngcolosi's estranged daughter Zakhiti to help. Ngcolosi worries about Buhle's health and thinks something else is at play.

A panicked MaZulu wants to make a run for it, but MaNdlovu stops her. Nganono and Shria both admit to wanting the coo position and resolve to accept their fathers' decision in the interest of their friendship.

MaNdlovu and MaZulu fear the worst when Ngcolosi returns from Makhumalo, but they're stunned to learn she did not reveal the truth.
